THE Evesham club's annual Sum-mer Championships was the culmination of many weeks' hard work for those youngsters competing for medals and trophies.

Given the number of fantastic, young swimmers who didn't even reach the finals, all the competitors aged from seven to 15 knew that competition would be fierce and so it proved!

The Under-7s girls' trophy winner was Imogen Ackland, with Caitlin Nickson runner up.

Nicholas Leahy, meanwhile, finished ahead of Thomas McDonald to win the boys' category at the same age group.

Cara Lee pipped Loren Brodie to the girls' 8/9-year title, while Harry Ackland made it a family double when overcoming Matthew Fowler in the boys final.

Competition was that intensive that at ages 10/11 Amy Camp and Ayesha Gardiner were joint winners of the girls event with Andrew Powell and James Bartram sharing the honours for the boys.

Hannah Fowler and William Russell were the respective runners-up.

In the 12/13-year competition, Elizabeth Hinsley finished ahead of Caitlin Donnahey and Ramsey Evans did likewise to Luke Pallett for the boys.

David Townsend swam to victory in the 14/15-year final improving on the club's records in both the backstroke and butterfly.

Matthew Murphy was runner-up on both occasions, while Lucy Goode won the girls' cup at this age group.

Winners of individual races who didn't take the overall age group prizes included Kim Swindlehurst (8/9 breaststroke), Becky Goodwin (U-7 back), William Russell 10/11 breaststroke) and Cameron Brodie, who set a new best time, in the boys' 12/13 butterfly.
