WYTHALL A secured promotion in Division Seven with a 3-1 away win against Weoley Hill on Thursday.
The squad, whose average age is just 18, have all come through the club's junior coaching programme and a draw at home in their final match will confirm them champions.
Brothers Mathew and Jake Smith of Wythall played Levach and Swain in the first rubber.
The first set went Wythall's way as they broke twice and were always in control, winning 6-1. The second set was close, with neither side in trouble on their serves. A tiebreak was needed - Weoley Hill created a mini-break early on, retained the advantage and took the set.
The Wythall pair never recovered from the disappointment and were broken in the first and fourth games of the final set, eventually losing 6-1 7-6 1-6.
The second Wythall pair of Dave Taylor and Mathew Fellows played Adams and Meredith.
The teams could not be separated during the early part of the set but Meredith was broken at 5-5 and this was enough for Wythall to take the first set 7-5.
The second set was again close but a Fellows forehand got the vital break for Wythall to win the rubber 7-5 6-4.
In the reverse rubbers, the Smith brothers faced Adams and Meredith.
They broke early and this boosted their confidence and they took the first set 6-1. The second set proved a closer affair but the Wythall pair broke at 3-3 and they went on to win the match 6-1 6-4.
Wythall's second pair never let the home pair settle, winning the first set 6-1, with Taylor constantly causing problems with his deep volleys.
The consistency of Fellows and Taylor continued to force errors from their opponents, which resulted in a 6-1 6-4 win for Wythall.
