THERE will be plenty of Pomp And Circumstance and a bit of Harry Potter at a concert marking the last night of the Proms.

Worcester's Saint George's Church's 11th annual Last Night of the Proms concert takes place on Saturday, September 17, and features a mixed programme of music by the Magdalene Orchestra.

The evening at the Barbourne church is set to include performances of Worcestershire composer Sir Edward Elgar's much-loved Pomp & Circumstance March No 1, Arne's Rule Britannia and Parry's Jerusalem.

Audiences will also hear music by John Williams from the Harry Potter films, a selection from Gershwin's Porgy And Bess and Michael Hadyn's Concerto in E-flat for Two Horns, among a range of other classical works.

Ursula Colville is set to lead the orchestra, with Nicola Daw and Simon Hall on horn and mezzo-soprano Joan Self.

Conductor Ian Pattison said: "It is set to be a great evening and, as usual, the audience will be invited to enter into the spirit of the occasion with flag-waving, singing and general encouragement as the orchestra plays the traditional closing items."

Tickets for the 7.30pm concert cost £7 (concessions £5, under-16s free) from Huntingdon Arts Box Office.
