Ledbury 0, Pershore 39pts

WHILE not playing at their full potential, Pershore still recorded an emphatic victory last Saturday.

Early season unavailability meant that there were seven changes in the visitors' line-up from the previous week, but it didn't take long for the new-look side to begin to gel.

The forwards stamped their authority on proceedings via a powerful scrum and quick and efficient line-out play and James Martin landed an early penalty.

With Pershore dominating up front, gaps began to appear in the home defence, and, when the ball was sped through several pairs of hands, Ian Hurley crashed through the centre.

He was stopped just short of the line but an eager Alex Peel was in support to touch down. Martin's conversion gave Pershore a ten-point lead.

Even with considerable possession Pershore were frustrated by Ledbury's slowing down of the ball in contact situations but, just before half-time from a five-metre scrum, No 8 and skipper Martin Hope scored his side's second try. Martin kicked a difficult conversion.

The first 20 minutes of the second half was a dour affair with Pershore again having the lion's share of possession but failing to convert it into points.

Strangely with 20 minutes left it seemed someone switched the 'on' button and Pershore cruised to victory.

Superb work by the forwards gave the backs a platform to dazzle and great passing movements in the driving rain saw the Piddle Parkers score three more tries through Richard Jenkinson, Martin and man of the match Andy Jenkinson.

Martin added two conversions and a further penalty to complete an excellent afternoon with the boot.

The winners take a break from league action on Saturday with a visit to Aston OEs in the North Midlands Cup.
