THERE were a couple of shocks in the first round of the Birdseye Sports Evesham and District Sunday League's Knockout Cup.

Third division Crowle defeated Division Two outfit Alderton thanks to two goals from Gwilliam, while Tewkesbury Town won at higher graded Broadway United with Brown (2), Goodwin and Kavanagh on target in a 4-3 triumph.

Upton Snodsbury cruised past Royal Oak with Rogers netting a hat-trick, Mark Haughty scored twice as Evesham WMC defeated Broadway Reserves, while goals from Clark, Hughes and Rob Hands saw Willersey account for Lenches Lions.

Ambassador defeated Oddfellows in a game of 12 goals with Beattie (3) and Brain(2) among the scorers for the winners.

A Morris treble helped Queens defeat Sporting Theocs and a Ballard effort put the Gate through at the expense of Fairfield.

Peopleton followed up their opening week winning start to life in Division One with a 4-1 win at Offenham where Brixey, Peterson,Harvey and Davies were on target.

Their previous week's victims Moreton Wanderers kick-started their campaign with a 7-3 win at Mickleton Rangers that wasn't as conclusive as might appear as the visitors needed three goals in the final five minutes to finally see off their Cotswolds rivals.

Chris Mills found the net five times for Wanderers, including a hat-trick in the opening 25 minutes.

Bretforton Old Boys edged out Defford in the second division thanks to a first half strike from Miller. Badsey Rec and Shipston Excelsior shared two goals, while Cider Mill overcame Tescos in Division Four with doubles from Print and Bullock.

Third division Bell United opened their account as a Roberts treble helped defeat Norgren.

Moreton Town recorded a comfortable win over Ecking-ton with goals from Ashley Hurrell, Balhatchet and two from Neale.

Golden Cross, meanwhile, made it two wins from two games with victory over Wic-khamford with substitute Andy Salter netting the clinching third, while Pinvin and Ashton shared eight goals with Gregg netting a treble for Ashton.
