RATHER than bemoan the quality of his side's finishing or rue the lack of discipline, Dave Busst's anger was firmly directed at the officials after Evesham's FA Cup exit, writes Mervyn Collins.

"They were bad on Saturday but their decisions on Tuesday were even more crucial and cost us the tie," the Common Road chief blasted.

"Steve Duncan was a bit petulant but certainly not deserving of a red card, while Neil O'Sullivan did raise his foot but he didn't even touch their player. I'm not saying he's innocent but again a yellow card would have been enough."

Busst was equally unhappy at the award of the game's only goal. "It was big decision and whether the ball was over the line or not the linesman was in no position to give it. If there's an element of doubt then you just don't give the goal."

Tiverton opposite number Martin Rogers was in agreement on both counts but he went home the happier.

"The general officiating in both games was nonsense and there wasn't really a bad tackle yet cards have been handed out for stupid little things," Busst added.

"We were the better team in both ties but poor finishing cost us and that little bit of luck that you need in this competition just wasn't with us.

"The players showed tremendous character. The quality is there, we just have to take our chances and we have no reason to fear no one.

"Bally and Jermaine (Cla-rke) were awesome on Tuesday. I have absolutely no criticism of the pair who will prove a handful to most defences."

United travel to Chippen-ham on Saturday where a previous visit ended in a 6-0 drubbing.

Dave Adey will retain the goalkeeper's jersey ahead of Karl Lewis and the manager will be hoping Adam Cooper recovers from the bout of flu that kept him out of Tuesday's match when Stuart Hamilton made a welcome return to duty.

Gavin O'Toole played for Racing Club last weekend and could come into contention although his presence will be needed when Neil O'Sullivan and Steve Duncan begin their suspensions.
