A FORMER organist at an Evesham church and his family are preparing for a unique memorial concert in memory of his mother and to raise money for the hospital where she was cared for.

Freelance musician Richard King will be joined by daughter Esther, 21, an undergraduate at the Royal College of Music, his son Jonathan, 20, who is studying at the Royal Marines School of Music and the Alea Quartet from the RCM to celebrate the life of his mother, Mrs Colleen King who died earlier this year.

The concert will be held at Childswickham parish Church next Sunday, September 25 and the proceeds will go to the Kemerton Ward at Cheltenham General Hospital.

Funds for the ward will be used to provide enhanced nursing care for patients in the area.

The programme for the concert will include Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet and Strings, Rheinberger's Suite for Organ, Violin and Cello and Schubert's String Quartet in A Minor.

Tickets are priced £7 can be purchased from the Book Centre in Evesham High Street.
