I CAN inform Jack Kinsman (Letters, Thursday, September 8) that Kenneth Clarke saw the truth concerning the European Union many years ago.
Only an egocentric would wish to lead the present-day ultra reactionary Conservative Party. Mr Clarke is one such and, in order to enhance his chances in a leadership contest, he has chosen to be a traitor to the European cause, which cause is not only correct from a materialist view-point, but in the ethical sense as well. May God help us if this worthless turncoat ever becomes Prime Minister.
However, the USA and China require UK to be a member state of EU. Therefore, whether we wish to stay in or whether the mainland Europeans want us, is immaterial. Whatever Mr Kinsman and his friends may say, however much they moan, we stay in.
