SIR - Sorry, Comment (Worcester News, Monday, October 17). As an adolescent, I never had the urge or opportunity to hang about in gangs or on street corners. My dad and the local bobby wouldn't allow it.

Chores and adult responsibilities were part of daily life - muck out, feed the pigs, chickens, ducks, geese and so on. Saw and split those logs, help your mum with the mangle! Perhaps this would be an answer to crime, vandalism, graffiti, vandalism, arson and so on in Worcester. But not ludicrous 'youth

shelters'!

FRANK L JONES,

Malvern.
