WHEN Jacqui Smith takes her "No Cuts" placard regarding the Alexandra Hospital to Downing Street, I hope she is also going to hold, in her other hand, her "Fair funding for Worcestershire Schools" placard too.

After all, the schools - like the hospitals - are victim to the same unfair national funding lottery which discriminately and unfairly witholds, just on one count, the Area Cost Adjusment payment, worth about £10 million a year to our county, even though it has been professionally and independently proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Worcestershire should receive it.

With the real terms funding gap between a Worcestershire and Birmingham child now standing at a whopping £840 per child per year LESS and getting worse by the year, it's about time the Schools Minister waved her Worcestershire Schools Fair Funding placard where Tony Blair couldn't possibly fail to see it.
