Malvern 10,

Evesham II 20pts

EVESHAM started str-ongly and, after good forward play and excellent handling by the backs, Paul Turpitt fed the ball to Darren Hun-ter who scored under the posts.

Tim Carsberg converted and Evesham were soon in the points again when Will Lloyd rounded his man to score in the corner.

Malvern fought back and replied with a penalty and, following poor tackling, added a converted try.

Evesham regained their composure and again threatened the opposition line and Hunter made a fine break and was stop-ped just short of the line. Carsberg, though, followed up well to touch down in the corner.

The second half was a much more evenly mat-ched affair and the Eve-sham forwards had to work extremely hard to get the better of their opponents.

Malvern pressed hard to square the game but good defence especially from Dicky Andrews, Craig Brotherton and Ben Wha-tmore thwarted their eff-orts.

Evesham started to press again and, after quick ruck ball, the ball was spun out to stand-in fly-half Mike O'Loughlin who unleashed a mighty drop goal from some 40 metres to put the game out of reach.

A special mention is due to Jim Appleby who came on to mark his 50th birthday while playing alongside son Tom!
