Evesham 1, Kings Heath 4

EVESHAM are still seeking their first Coaching Solu-tions West Midlands Pre-mier League points follow- ing a mixed performance last Saturday.

There was a disastrous start as the home side had to take to the pitch with only ten players. However, with a re-organised line up, the hosts defended comfortably for the opening 20 minutes and showed their greatest resolve of the season.

They also had opportunities to open the scoring; Steve Miller shot at the keeper and Martin Husbands fired just wide.

It was a huge disappointment then, when Kings Heath opened the scoring following confusion in the home defence.

However, Matt Baumber cleared the deficit with a well placed flicked shot after pressure from Stuart Harris created a clear scoring opportunity.

The arrival of Jon Vickery meant that Evesham could begin the second half with a full complement and hopes were high of a first victory of the season.

Tighter

However, Kings played a far tighter game, denying the home side space and time on the ball and this pressure caused Vickery to concede a soft short corner from which the visitors regained the lead.

Although it was only one goal, there seemed to be a resigned air about Evesham as they pushed forward without any real conviction and defended with increasing nervousness.

Despite the tireless running of Ricky Dawe on his first team debut, Evesham produced few chances of note as the game went on and, although the visitors were happy to defend deeply, they looked to counter-attack once play broke down.

A contentious umpiring decision caught the hosts off guard when a quickly taken hit just inside the half left the home players out of position.

A fourth goal followed shortly before the final whistle to give Kings Heath a rather flattering three-goal victory margin.

Husbands said: "We've shown far more discipline and composure today but once again we've found a new way to shoot ourselves in the foot.

"For all our skill and talent, we need a much better attitude and determination from the whole squad, but also remain positive that two wins will take us some way up the table."

Evesham will be looking to continue their improvement on Saturday at Kidderminster and hope to turn improvement into points.
