MALVERN Angels took to the road on Sunday to play a development fixture after their league game against Ripley Rhinos handed them a home walkover and another three league points.

Angel's head coach Mark Edwards searched for five days to acquire this game for the Angels to set the team up before its next league game away against Chesterfield on Sunday.

Fielding a much-changed team with squad members playing to develop the breadth of experience in the Angels they set about their game with gusto and managed to put together 17 tries and nine conversions.

The Angels forwards rucked and mauled with their usual tenacity and fed the hungry back row with some impressive ball handling. Banbury were unable to reply to the speed and power of the Angels backs row who ran in try after try to amass this staggering result.

Scorers were: Fly-half Deb Danby one try and nine conversions, centre Lou Saum seven tries, centre Babs Madsen four tries, winger Laura Bradford two tries and winger Layni Madsen three tries.

Player-of-the-game was awarded to Babs Madsen who returns to active play following surgery to her shoulder during the closed season.

Angels are due to play their next league fixture on Sunday, away to Chesterfield.

They have a development game at home to Earlsdon next Sunday (November 13) and then return to league duty at Newark on November 27.
