SIR - I read in one of the national newspapers that we are to lose our piggy banks because there is a fear they cause offence to the Muslim population of this country.

It would appear that all promotional material bearing our little piggies has now been scrapped by the banks because the Koran forbids Muslims from eating port and pigs are considered unclean.

I suppose that before very long all the butchers' shop across the land will no longer be able to display pork in their windows.

What with the crematoriums having to take down the crucifixes and hospitals having to do away with bedside Bibles all because of the Muslim faith, I shudder to think of what the politically correct faceless wonders are going to come up with next.

Perhaps they will ban books like Rupert Bear because of Podgy the Pig. Then there is Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, not to mention of course Miss Piggy in the Muppets, and what am I going to do when they ban my packet of pork crunch?

I am getting a little cheesed-off with all this rubbish. It's about time somebody stood up and said "what about the British and their beliefs and religions - after all, it is our country, isn't it?

When in Rome, dear friends, when in Rome.

JOHN FREEMAN,

Worcester.
