EVESHAM United manager Dave Busst remains upbeat, despite his team's wretched league position.

The Robins sit one off the bottom of the Southern League Premier Division with just two wins.

And they were dumped out of the Worcestershire Senior Cup 8-7 on penalties by lowly Midland Alliance outfit Studley in mid-week.

Richard Ball's 10-minute hat-trick secured a 3-3 draw in normal time.

Busst, who has not seen his team win a league game since early September, insists the players are capable of hauling themselves up the table, starting with a trip to Chesham United tomorrow (3pm).

"It's a confidence thing, no doubt about that," he said. "We are more disappointed because in 80 per cent of those games we feel we should have got something out of them.

"We have got to stop feeling sorry for ourselves. We have just got to get that self-belief back because we are not a bad team. We are wary of where we are. We know a win can take the pressure off us. We knew it would be tough but now people are realising how tough it is.

"We do honestly feel that in five or six games we could have got another five or six points."

However, Busst knows performances must improve, particularly at the back, if they are to climb the league ladder.

He added: "We had a little bit of luck go against us with a penalty but full credit to Studley, they were more than a match for us.

"They wanted it more but we should be able to dominate teams two leagues below us. It just shows the lack of confidence.

"If we put in the same defensive display somebody will give us a right thumping."

Guy Hadland is suspended tomorrow, but wide-man Grant Pinkney returns.
