POWICK faced a long journey to the other side of Evesham for this Worcestershire FA Sunday county cup match.

RED HORSE EVESHAM 1, POWICK 0

Bouyed by the fantastic success of the Saturday side the day before, Powick started brightly and knocked the ball around with confidence.

On a superb pitch at Littleton, Powick coped well against a physical side and managed to overcome the appalling weather conditions.

In an even first-half Harvey, Henderson and Lambeth all had decent efforts but the movement of the home side was causing problems. The back four of Collard, Skilton, Hart and Knight were often tested but proved resolute and Powick ended the half in a stalemate.

The second-half started well for Powick and both Hart and Hadley went close with long range efforts. Sadly for Powick man-of-the-match Hart was forced off through a neck injury.

The crucial goal came in the 75th minute, when a Hadley clearance fell to an opposition striker, who rifled an excellent shot into the bottom corner.

Powick continued to play controlled football and every player was keen to receive the ball. This almost paid off with a few minutes remaining when an excellent Pearson cross was headed agonisingly wide by Harvey. At the final whistle, an entertaining and competitive game, played in the right spirit, was brought to an end.

Powick must take this performance, though not the result, into their next game, which is a difficult league fixture against an unbeaten Claines side.
