Juniors

Alcester's mini and junior teams made the journey to National League Division Two side Stourbridge for a busy schedule of matches.

Alcester u11s had matches against both the home team and a Walsall side.

In the opening game Alcester got off to a slow start and conceded an early try in the first half.

Despite some strong attacking play and quick clearance from the ruck Alcester were unable to pull back in the second half and lost by the solitary Stourbridge score.

In the Walsall game Elliot Evans, the Alcester captain, went over early on only to see Walsall pull level before half-time.

Walsall then moved seven points clear following a cruel bounce that evaded the full-back.

Connor Ashford turned in an inspired performance at scrum-half setting up Alcester's try to pull within two points. Alex Tack held his nerve and converted the extra points to earn Alcester a deserved 14-14 draw.

Jack Putnam, at inside centre, won the man of the match award.

n Alcester's u10s also played two matches.

The first was against a strong first team who moved the ball well out to the wings and were disciplined at the breakdown.

After an even start Stourbridge put on the style and ran in three tries. Alcester were playing well however and the recent training on driving over at the rucks was starting to yield results.

Alcester forwards Zac Cutting and Henry Jenkins were the platform for greater Alcester possession and Ryan Nisbet used the possession well and scored for the visitors.

Stourbridge scored two more first half tries before Nisbet pulled one back for Alcester with a trademark jinking run to make it 5-2 at the break.

Alcester started the second half well with Nisbet running half the length of the pitch to score.

The home side then ran in three more before Alcester's best move of the match ended just short of the line and resulted in a breakaway try for the hosts.

Good tackling from Alcester's George Rix prevented further Stourbridge scores and the game finished 9-3 in Stourbridge's favour.

The second match, against a second team, was a different story and they ran out convincing winners.

Nisbet immediately scored for the visitors but a strong run through the middle by Stourbridge evened the score.

It was now Alcester who turned on the style with Marchant scoring before Nisbet scored three more times after excellent work at the scrum.

Alcester's confidence rose in the second half with Nisbet scored twice more and recent recruit Josh Lea scoring with an excellent run down the blindside.

Tom Alder and Alex Honor then scored before Lea rounded off matters for a 12-3 win. Zac Cutting was named Man of the Match.

n Alcester's u9s beat a Stourbridge B team 2-0, the tries coming from James Cook, but then lost 7-0 to a strong A team. Cook took the Man of the Match honours.

n The u8s played three matches against two Stourbridge sides and won 6-4, 7-5 and 4-3.

All players contributed to the scoresheet but man of the match for Alcester was awarded to Jacob Hucker.

n Alcester's u7s lost their two games 3-2 and 4-3. The visitors fielded a number of new recruits but need to concentrate on maintaining their attacking and defensive lines. Man of the match was Josh Hope-Kibble.
