STOURPORT are continuing to set the pace at the top ofNorth Midlands South Two - with Chaddesley Corbett in hot pursuit - after a 14-3 victory over Clee Hill

In arguably their toughest test of the season, the Walshes Meadow men came up against powerful and well-drilled forwards.

A tense first half saw both teams fail to take their respective opportunities with the scoreboard still blank at the break.

Stourport raised their game in the second half but it was Clee Hill who opened the scoring with a successful penalty goal.

The home team then piled on the pressure near the visitors try line and were awarded a penalty try when Clee offended once too often.

It was converted by Rob Humphries and with Stourport growing in confidence Jaco Bester scored a well-worked try with Richard Dorrell adding the extras to make it 14-3.

l Stourport seconds suffered a 34-19 home defeat to Bromsgrove thirds, despite playing their part in an entertaining game.

Tries from Mark Andrews, Rob Phillips and M Saunders and two conversions from captain Stu Wilson proved too little too late after Bromsgrove built a substantial lead.
