A BEWDLEY boy of 14 who beat up his mother because she stopped him using his PlayStation has been given a last chance at Worcester Crown Court.

Judge David McEvoy QC told the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, that he should stop "being nasty" to his mother and get on with his schooling.

He made a 12-month supervision order with conditions that the boy should attend school regularly and undertake 20 days of supervised activities.

The boy, who admitted assault causing actual bodily harm, had been sent for sentence by Kidderminster magistrates because they regarded him as a dangerous offender.

Mr Andrew Wallace, prosecuting, said the boy refused to get out of bed at 7.30am on October 5 to go to school. After his mother pulled out the leads to his PlayStation, he hit her on the back and arms in the bedroom. He repeated the attack when she fled to the lounge.

On a previous occasion, he had trashed the home, causing £1,000 worth of damage. He had a history of assaults on his mother.

mq Mr Nigel Hall, defending, said the boy had been upset by the death of his stepfather. He loved his mother although he had shown hostility to her. He was intelligent but his anger had come out through frustration.
