I recently wrote to Your Letters regarding my opinion of the extension in licensing hours and the great opportunity each public house in Malvern had now, as with the additional hours they could all play on a level playing field with the bars in Worcester, which typically took custom from smaller neighbouring towns with the lure of late-night drinking.

Many pubs in Malvern now offer a wide range of entertainment. Malvern residents can go out to pubs which offer discos, live music, big screen sports matches or a quiet meal and a chat over a drink, and the best part is that there is no need to check your watch, just enjoy your night and go home when you wish.

One bar I mentioned in my previous letter is The Vaults, at Link Top. This is the only pub, to my knowledge, open as late as 3am and to my surprise is still busy at that time. It offers guest DJ's from as far afield as Birmingham playing all types of music and soon, as most people know, will also have exotic pole dancers and lap dancers, a first for Malvern, just like the 3am licence.

Imagine how astonished I felt when I read on a recent planning application form that they wish to turn The Vaults into a complex of flats.

Without even going into the chaos of parking in an already congested area, I have to wonder in amazement why someone would buy a bar, make it busy and popular then force the landlord to close and knock the bar down.

If anyone on the council has the ability to help me and hundreds of like-minded party-goers keep open a bar which serves the community and offers something different then please do, they will be able to count on my vote.

Malvern lost the Con club to developers. That's a different kettle of fish, I know, just please don't let it happen again.
