THE Villagers took on the Worcester Sunday League division three's bottom side in Dew Drop and were hoping for a good result off the back of several poor performances.

DEW DROP INN 1, THE VILLAGERS 1

Phil Dyde and Phil Wild on the wings started from the off and looked very threatening, beating their man every time with ease.

Nathan Wanklin was having a good game in central midfield and created several glorious opportunities for his team-mates. This coupled with Tom Smith, Jamie Plant and Paul Thomas putting in solid defensive performances, the result looked certain.

The Villagers started the second-half just as brightly and Carl Regan missed a chance from close range. Jamie Plant took the initiative and pushed on and after a 40 yard pass found him inside the opponent's box, he fired straight at the keeper from a narrow angle.

Unfortunately for Villagers, Dew Drop were now settling into a rhythm and after another long ball, their striker ran clear through on goal to beat the impressive Sadi Ali.

Villagers, carried on as before with confidence and after a good through-ball by Nathan Wanklin, Phil Dyde ran on to score his second goal in as many games.

Villagers now pushed for the winner and substitute Roly Green made an impressive 50-yard run into the box only for his ball across the face of goal to be directed straight at the home keeper from close range by Neil Morgan.

Tom Smith continued to threaten the visiting goal with numerous dead-ball situations but glorious opportunities were missed.

In the closing minutes, Phil Wild and Mark Tilley had chances but could not find the target.

Man-of-the-match was Phil Dyde.
