MALVERN Angels hosted their final development game before Christmas against their old adversaries, Berry Hill.
MALVERN ANGELS 82pts, BERRY HILL 10pts
The Angels, who have always been the underdogs in these fixtures, showed Berry Hill that they have matured as a team and are now a force to be reckoned with.
Berry Hill were shown some tough rucking and mauling from the forwards and the trade-mark fleetness of foot of the Angels back row, who waited patiently while the forwards challenged the strength of their opponents to win ball that was then whipped down the line.
Malvern's try scorers were Babs Madsen (two), Layni Madsen (two), Shelly Lloyd (one), Laura Bradford (two), Deb Danby (two), Caroline Hardy (one) and Lou Saum (two).
Deb Danby, the Angels' captain, managed to kick 11 conversions to see the final score at 82-10.
Angels' forwards coach Pete Williams was impressed by the continued development of the team and the support play shown.
Player of the game was awarded to Claire Labrano, who returned to the team following a dislocated shoulder earlier in the season.
The Angels' first fixture of the new year is January 15, home to Eccleshall.
