I was interested to read that Coun Clive Smith feels there are nothing but "positive advantages" (can advantages ever be negative?) from building flats near Moat Way (Malvern Gazette, December 30).

More policing is the solution to anti-social behaviour, not building flats. Perhaps the recent approval for Lidl in the Link is the council's solution to traffic problems?

Local residents do not want these flats, but petitions and letters were ignored.

I look forward to reading about the next politician to complain that people are not engaged with politics.

It is this sort of steamrollering of local opinion, of the people affected by change, that causes such disengagement.
