A REDDITCH racing fan is celebrating victory in a national competition this week.

Winyates Green resident Bev Swingell, who writes racing tips for the Daily Express, has bagged £2,000 for coming first in the 2005 Racing Post National Press Challenge.

The 55-year-old said he had worked for the Daily Express from his Berkeley Close home for 25 years, publishing his tips under the name Computer Man. He said the 12-month competition had included all the national newspapers' top tipsters.

"You pick in every race and it's who has got the highest percentage of money left at the end of the time," he said.

"I haven't got my prize yet, but I have to go down to Canary Wharf for a dinner and presentation."

And when asked if his £2,000 prize meant he was the best tipster in the country, Mr Swingell added: "I don't know if I'm the best but it's quite good."
