A TOP Bromsgrove junior cyclist is set to get her first taste of international action when she competes in the Vienna Invitational this weekend.
Jess Varnish, aged 15, is the youngest member ever to race for Great Britain's youth endurance team in Austria.
Normally a sprinter Varnish, who rides for Halesowen Athletics and Cycling Club, is also regarded as a strong long distance rider.
Varnish, who lives in Finstall, is highly rated by Britain's top coaches and is an integral part of the Olympic Development Plan.
Father Jim Varnish said: "This is great news for Jess. She's very excited about going to Vienna.
"She is normally a sprinter, but also is a very good endurance rider, so she's looking forward to testing herself."
l Riders from local cycling clubs are set to wear black arm bands in memory of four Rhyl CC riders who were killed in an accident in Wales at the weekend.
