REDDITCH'S Muslim community is being reminded to take a few extra safety precautions and reduce the risk of a fire during the Eid Al-Adha festival, which started yesterday.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has issued a list of handy hints to ensure revellers enjoy safe celebrations.
Service spokesman Zahoor Ashmed said: "During the Eid Al-Adha period people spend more time at home or at the mosque, and whilst people are relaxing with friends and family, everyday fire risks can increase.
"People are more likely to be distracted and therefore vulnerable to accidental fires.
"By taking a few simple steps fire risks can be reduced around the home and everybody can celebrate safely the Festival of Eid Al-Adha."
Some of the tips he suggested including checking smoke alarms, not over loading plugs and being extra careful when cooking with oil.
