POLICE are hunting two men in connection with the brutal assaults of a teenage boy and pensioner on the same day.

The first attack took place last Wednesday as a 16-year-old boy walked with his friend down Battens Drive near the Brooklyn Ford garage.

As they stood by the rails of the nearby underpass at about 7.30pm, two men approached. One of them head-butted the 16-year-old and grabbed his mobile phone. He was treated for a suspected broken nose.

Later, at 9.10pm, the same men are believed to have approached a 73-year-old man sitting in his red Toyota Corolla on a driveway in Plymouth Road. One of them smashed the car window, injuring the pensioner. He was treated for an injury to his cheekbone.

On both occasions, one of the men was described as white, aged 18-22, 5ft 10ins tall and of slim or medium build. He had short dark brown or black hair and was wearing a dark coloured jumper and white tracksuit bottoms.

The other man was slightly shorter, also white and aged between 18 and 20. He had fairer hair and was wearing a tracksuit top and dark coloured bottoms.

DC Gary Mole, of Redditch police, said: "The victims in both these incidents have suffered injury and distress and we are determined to find those responsible.

He said they believed the offenders were from the area and urged anyone recognising the descriptions to get in touch.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who recalls seeing men of this description in the Battens Drive or Plymouth Road areas before or after either incident," added DC Mole.
