AN angry Broadway businessman hit out this week after the sixth raid on his shop in two years.

Thieves targeted the Treasure Trove shop in Broadway last Thursday by using a stolen hatchback car with a fence attached to the back.

They tried to break into the Green Lane store by driving the car into the front door made out of solid oak at about 3.30am

Owner of the china and glass store, David Robinson was awoken by the disturbance and promptly called the police who arrived and caused the raiders to flee empty handed.

Mr Robinson, aged 72 said: "This is the sixth time we've been targeted by thieves in the last two years. We've put several bolts on the heavy oak door but it just doesn't seem to be deter them."

Nigel Robinson, son of the shop owner is frustrated by this latest incident as it has left his father shaken.

He said: "Since we've been here this is the sixth attempt made by thieves to and we just can't understand it. The whole thing is quite upsetting- to be honest -as my father lives above the shop."

David Robinson is grateful to the police who arrived within 30 seconds of the incident.

"I am thankful to the police they arrived promptly," added Mr Robinson.

Evesham and Broadway beat manager Paul Adams for West Mercia police said: "We're investigating this latest incident in Broadway and are also working with Mr Robinson in ensuring his shop is not the target of crime once again."
