OPTIMISTIC boss Roy Rencher is targeting back-to-back victories to ease Stourport Swifts' relegation worries.

Swifts have slumped back into the bottom two of Southern League Division One West after picking up just one point from their previous three games.

They crashed 4-0 to leaders Ashford Town last Saturday, although they trailed by a single goal to the high-fliers until influential defender Paul Hatton's sending off prompted a flurry of late strikes. Despite the heavy loss, Rencher is confident his side possess enough quality to survive.

Swifts tackle Marlow at Walshes Meadow tomorrow (3pm), followed by a trip to Sutton Coldfield Town next week, and Rencher is hoping to land six points.

"We're desperate for a couple of wins," said Rencher. "What we have done over the Christmas period is go into the pack again.

"We have left Thame United behind, but recent results have meant that all our good work before Christmas is going to waste. We are almost back to where we started eight weeks ago.

"But the camp morale is very high. Two wins on the trot could see us go eighth from bottom and that's what we have got to look at. We have got a decent enough side to do it.

"We were a little unlucky at Ashford, the scoreline flattered them. We soaked up the pressure when 1-0 down and Rory May, Richard Burgess and Chris Hughes all missed gilt-edged chances. Once Paul was sent off, it was like the Alamo. We could not handle the pressure."

Hatton should be available for selection tomorrow, while winger Shaun Findlay returns to the squad. Russell Dodds should be fit, despite suffering from double vision in their last game.

Rencher has put in seven-day approaches for ex-Kidderminster Harriers utility man Simon Fitter, now at Studley, and Lye striker Andy Burgess.
