ANYONE with treasures tucked away in the attic has a golden opportunity to find out how much they are worth this month - and help Operation Covert at the same time.

The Ramada Hotel and Resort in Bewdley is holding a Grand Antiques and Collectables Roadshow on Sunday, February 26 and the Shuttle/Times & News appeal to rebuild the Rhydd Covert activity centre will be one of the beneficiaries.

The event is being held in association with Birmingham's leading auction house, Biddle & Webb, whose experts will be on hand to give valuations.

Any item of interest - including jewellery, silver, watches, oil paintings, watercolours, pottery and porcelain - can all be assessed.

Larger items such as furniture can also be put under the eye of the experts if you bring a long a photograph.

The cost of each valuation will be £1 and the proceeds will go to the County Air Ambulance, NSPCC and Cancer Research UK as well as Operation Covert.

Katey Barber, conference and events co-ordinator at the hotel in Habberley Road, Bewdley, said: "We have never held an event like this before and we hope people will come along and help us raise as much as we can for these charities.

"Lots of people have treasured possessions or family heirlooms they believe are valuable and they can talk to the experts and find out more about them.

"There could also be some hidden treasures tucked away in attics or cupboards and this is the chance to dust them off and come get them valued."

She explained: "As a company we support a range of national charities each year and this year the NSPCC and Cancer Research UK are among them.

"But at Bewdley we also like to help local good causes, and so we decided to add Operation Covert and the hospice to those benefiting from the roadshow."

The event runs from 11am until 3pm and further details can be by calling 01299 406400.
