MALVERN Town Ladies FC travelled to Droitwich Spa in a Kidderminster league game.

DROITWICH SPA LADIES 2, MALVERN TOWN LADIES 1

Malvern started brightly and created some good chances to take an early lead.

Dom Boulton put her shot just wide after Stacie Doyle's shot had rebounded off the post. Tracey Evans also came close but shot just over the bar.

Em Hinchliffe also had a chance but her shot was saved by the Droitwich keeper.

Droitwich took the lead in the 40th minute when an in-swinging corner found its way into the back of the net, Malvern keeper Jenny Shail could only stand and watch.

Malvern came out with the same fighting spirit in the second-half and pushed bodies forward looking for the equaliser.

They were rewarded in the 63rd minute when Stacie Doyle lobbed the keeper from an acute angle after some good work from Em Hinchliffe.

As Malvern tried to get the winner, Droitwich played counter- attacking football. Malvern's defence stood firm and some great defending from man-of-the-match Heidi Barlow kept Malvern in the game.

Some injuries to Malvern's midfield made things very difficult in the last ten minutes and Droitwich exploited that fact and scored a goal deep into injury time.

Malvern Town Ladies, sponsored by First Floor Flooring & The Soccer Site, travel to Pershore on Sunday in the quarter-final of the Hospital Cup.
