ENTRIES are still being sought for the town's civic award, to be presented next month.

Mayor Jim Kenyon is searching for the town's unsung heroes and wants people to nominate whoever they think deserves the award.

"We need to ask the people of Alcester to nominate someone they feel has served in the community either as a volunteer or worked for an organisation - or possibly been a carer.

"We want to find someone who has contributed over a number of years and in their opinion not been recognised for their loyal service and devotion to duty," he said.

The winner of the town's first civic award will receive a crystal trophy at an award ceremony on the day of the mayoral changeover on May 9.

Nominations should be submitted in writing with contact details and reasons by this Friday. Send entries to Derrick Ward, Globe House, Priory Road, Alcester.
