LAST Sunday's opening meeting of 2006 at a reva-mped Worcester Race-course was the first of 21 during the summer mon-ths.

There's Ladies day on Saturday, June 3 which is also Derby Day , while there are also several themed evenings including Miss Worcestershire Race Night (May 6), annual Irish Night (July 12) and, new for 2006, Caribb-ean Night (August 22).
Charity will be the winner on September 3 at the Injured Jockey Fund Football Race Day, while the two annual charity days will be on June 3 in aid of St Rich-ard's Hospice and July 26 in aid of the Air Ambulance.
Considerable investment at Pitchcroft by Arena Leisure PLC has taken place over the winter months.
There's a fully refurbished Grandstand with three corporate boxes on the top floor boasting balconies over the winning line.
A new-look Severn Suite viewing restaurant, an extended Premier Enclosure bar floor and updated toilet facilities throughout the Grandstand.
There's also a new Owners, Trainers and Annual Members bar now nestling on the banks of the River Severn beside the Parade ring and a raised decking area for viewing in this area is planned for the near future.
