TOM Hodgkinson, chairman of Inkberrow and District Horticultural Society, was delighted to welcome a good number of visitors to the society's Spring Show at Inkberrow Village Hall on March 4.

He said congratulations were due to all the exhibitors for producing so many entries, given the unusually harsh spring which had seen the gardens go to sleep. One result of this was a sparse centre table as many flowering shrubs had yet to produce any bloom.

In 42 years of living in Inkberrow he said this was the first year he had had no daffodils in flower in his own garden. Despite all this it had proved to be a good show and very worthwhile.

He thanked the committee and society members for all their help in staging the show, Bill Lootes, of Honeybourne, who undertook the judging and visitors for their support, which was much appreciated.

Members provided refreshments and visitors were able to buy plants and seeds from the plant stall and try their luck at the raffle.

The Ansell Challenge Cup for highest number of points in the bulb section was won by Fred Hunt who also won the Society Challenge Cup for the highest number of points in the show.

The Seymour Memorial trophy for Best in Show was son by Pat Atkin with her delightful collection of spring flowers.
