ON March 13 the chairman of the association, David Morgan, stepped in at late notice to replace the advertised speaker.

David gave an excellent presentation on his early years as a teacher in Tanzania. He outlined how he and his young family grew vegetables and fruit in their garden in difficult terrain and humid conditions.

He explained that pupils from his school took part in practical gardening lessons on the school farm and highlighted the variety of flowers and fruit that were grown.

David concluded his presentation by showing slides of himself, his wife and friends in their successful walk up to the peak of Mount Killmanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

The next meeting of the association will be on Monday at 7.30pm at the Baptist Church in Cookhill, when the speaker will be Rob Cole from Meadow Farm Nursery.

Rob will be giving a practical demonstration on growing perennials from seed. Seeds and perennials will also be on sale. New members are always welcome.
