VANDALS had caused £250 worth of damage by knocking down and smashing a number of gravestones. Two years ago the world famous railway gravestones, dating from 1842 in St John's churchyard, had been wrecked by vandals.
MEMBERSHIP of Catshill Community Association had rocketed to 500, ten per cent of the village's population, since it was launched six months ago. Of the 63 clubs and societies in Catshill, 42 had expressed an interest in becoming affiliated with the association. The aim was to improve lives.
SIXTY residents from Harwood Park packed into St Godwald's church hall to protest against plans to build 400 homes near their estate.
