A CLEAN up operation swung into action after the pollution of a Tibberton watercourse.
Now Environment Agency officers are appealing for information which might lead to the source of the pollution which hit the watercourse behind the village store last Wednesday.
It is thought that a significant amount of kerosene heating oil entered the water through the surface water drains that serve the nearby area.
An investigation has so far failed to find where the pollutant escaped from, so it is not known if the problem is likely to get worse.
Environment Agency officer George Davies said: "The pollution has extensively contaminated the watercourse behind Plough Road near the old sewage works. So far, we have been unable to trace where it has come from and would be very grateful to hear from anyone with any information. It is very important that we find the source so that the clean up can be completed and we don't get any further oil pollution."
Anyone with information should contact the Environment Agency on 0800 807060.
