Redditch VC 2, Phoenix Hereford Ladies 3 (after extra time)

There was heartbreak for Redditch VC on Sunday as they missed out on a cup final appearance.

VC twice took the lead but an extra time fightback ensured it was the Hereford side that went through.

Jenna Dedicoat had an excellent chance to open the scoring for Redditch but shot tamely at the keeper.

With the wind playing havoc in the first half and driving rain making the pitch churn up, it was going to be tough for both sides to play good passing football.

VC's defence was solid throughout the first half with Liv Turton and Ellen Branagh playing well.

The deadlock was finally broken five minutes before the break when Dedicoat thundered a shot past the Hereford keeper.

The second half saw Jenny Worthington thread a pass to Dedicoat but she was denied a second by a superb save.

VC twice went close through Kate Saint but it was the visitors who netted 20 minutes from time. Nicole Metje had already pulled off a number of good saves but she was chipped from just outside the area after blocking the initial attempt.

Redditch regained the lead five minutes into extra time when some fine work on the right from Tara Cook resulted in her picking out Dedicoat who turned the ball home.

But the cup dream was shattered when Phoenix struck twice in the final ten minutes as VC tired.

The equaliser was a well-struck shot from the edge of the box and, within minutes, Phoenix were in the lead with a shot from inside the area.

VC tried to bounce back and Lawrence and Lyndsey Ross went close before Cook shot just the wrong side of the post

Ross Town 1, Studley 1

Studley began well at Ross, Coral Loney almost giving them the lead after being put through by Sam Wilkinson.

Minutes later Rachel Hopkins won the ball and her 40-yard effort flew over the Ross keeper.

The home side levelled midway through the first half with a close-range effort and that was how it remained after Wilkinson missed a second half Studley penalty.
