A WOMAN in her 80s had her purse stolen in Marks and Spencer in Redditch.

Police are appealing for information following the theft on Thursday between 11.20-11.35am.

The pensioner was pushing a trolley round the store with her handbag in the front of it. Shortly before this a man had helped her get the relevant change for the trolley.

A while later a woman approached her, asking for help in choosing some boy's trousers, claiming she could not speak much English.

Afterwards the elderly woman realised her black leather purse containing £60 cash, bank cards and a driving licence was missing from her bag.

Police are looking for an Asian woman, aged 18-21, 5ft 4ins tall and of medium build. She was wearing a cream coloured jacket and had long black hair.

They would also like to speak to the man who helped the pensioner with her change.

Shoppers are reminded to be vigilant and keep their personal belongings secure.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 08457 444 888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
