CELEBRATED singer and jazz pianist Buddy Greco, one of the greatest names from the golden era of entertainment, is to make an exclusive Birmingham appearance at the Jam House next month.

The former member of Frank Sinatra's 'Rat Pack' and the man responsible for gold record hits such as "The Lady is a Tramp" and "Around the World", will be performing live with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra at the top music and dining venue in St Paul's Square tomorrow (Thu).

Regarded as 'a singer's singer and a musician's musician' by his peers, the American-born legend's distinctive piano style has made him as popular with young people today as with those who were brought up on his music in the 1950s and 1960s.

Making his first Birmingham appearance for years, Buddy Greco first performed in Britain in 1952 at the London Palladium with the Benny Goodman Band. He has played every major concert hall in the world, given a Royal Command Performance, and has 65 albums and more than 100 singles to his credit.

Other big names heading for the city in the coming months include veteran singer Johnny Mathis and Jeff Beck.

This year marks Mathis' 50th anniversary as a recording artist and to celebrate he will embark on a three date UK tour, which includes a concert at the NEC Arena on September 21.

Following a much-anticipated UK tour in 2004, Jeff Beck is set to perform an unforgettable night of music with the legendary Buddy Guy at the NIA Academy on July 11.

The concert will see four time Grammy Award winning star, Jeff team up with an absolutely stellar band including Vinnie Colaiuta on drums and Jason Rebello on keyboards.
