A BROMSGROVE heavy metal band are on the verge of hitting the big time with the release of their first album.

Hardcore metallers Decimate release their album, 11 Rounds, on Monday, April 17.

The long player is set to be sold in major retailers such as HMV and Virgin stores up and down the country.

Band member Matt Harrison said: "This could be the start of big things for the band.

"We've been working hard for the last few years and it's all coming together.

"It's a bit mad, really. Everything is starting to gather momentum."

The video 'My Time', the album's opening track, is also set to be played on rock music channels Kerrang!, Scuzz and MTV2.

The release of the album is also the end of a long battle for the five-piece band.

The long player was written two years ago but wasn't recorded until the band signed for London based Copro Records.

Matt said: "We did have some problems before but we've finally got the album recorded.

"It took such a long time that we've already got half the second album written."

With the release of 11 Rounds Decimate have caught the interest of the heavy metal world and will appear in metal magazine Terroriser in April.

To celebrate the album's release Decimate will play The Flapper and Firkin pub in Birmingham on April 17.

"Things are changing so fast for us. We all work full time but if things keep going well for the band that may change as well", added Matt.
