DROITWICH pool player Darrell Bareham more than matched his England team mates to book his place in the European Championships over the weekend.ON CUE: Darrell Bareham is off to the European Pool Championships.

Bareham took on his fellow England squad members in the European and World Cup Championship qualifiers in Great Yarmouth.

He enjoyed a storming finish to ensure his place at the European Championships in 2007.

His success also means he is first reserve for England's team going to the World Championships later in 2006.

Bareham, who won his place in the England squad in February, said: "It's all very well being in the England squad but I want to play in the big matches. I'm delighted to have made the European Championships."

Bareham bounced back from an inconsistent start on the first day to beat Gareth Hibbott, Adam Davies and Mark Pickworth on Saturday to finish third over all.

He said: "I started slowly but got better as the qualifiers went on. I thought fourth place was in my range but results went my way and I finished third."
