ANGRY Stourport town councillors have called for answers after their wish for a public discussion on the impact of a supermarket giant coming to the town was rejected.
Members wrote last month, asking Wyre Forest District Council for the issues surrounding Tesco's plan to move to the former Carpets of Worth site, in Severn Road, to be put on the agenda of tonight's parish forum meeting at Duke House, Kidderminster.
Councillor David Little told members at Tuesday's Stourport Town Council meeting planning officers had not listed the issue because the national retail chain had not yet officially requested planning permission and any discussion would be "second guessing".
He added: "I am very disappointed with decision. This is important for the people of Stourport and we should be given the chance to express our views.
"If the people of the town decide they want it to happen, then so be it."
