JAMES Manley is desperate to be doing a victory jig on Sunday - after a dance-floor disaster almost scuppered his dream of playing at Twickenham.

The Cleobury winger was out celebrating his 20th birthday in Worcester last month after the club's league defeat to Droitwich.

Enjoying the evening with a few beers, Manley decided to strut his stuff on the dance-floor when he slipped and suffered a freak injury.

"It was a bit of a dance-floor disaster," laughs Manley, who is well on the road to recovery after having a week off work.

"I was just having a bit of a dance when I twisted my ankle and I was in absolute agony.

"I was panicking at the time that my chance of playing at Twickenham had gone because of a stupid accident.

"I could barely walk on it until last Wednesday but it's getting stronger and stronger now and nothing will stop me from playing now."

Team-mate Julian Harding is also expected to be fit for his big day against Dorking on Sunday - after sustaining injury in a more orthodox fashion.

The full-back feared he would be a frustrated spectator after damaging his collarbone in the thrilling semi-final win at London Exiles.

But a combination of rest, recuperation and intense therapy have seen him make a rapid recovery.

Meanwhile, Manley admits the significance of Sunday's Powergen Junior Vase final showdown has yet to sink in.

"I don't think it will really hit us until we run out at Twickenham and all the Cleobury fans are there shouting their heads off," he added.

"It's an amazing accomplishment for what is no more than a village rugby team really and I'm proud to be a part of it."
