THE hunt is on to find a worthy recipient of this year's annual Evesham Mayor's Civic Award.

Nominations are being sought by town clerk Frank Green, who is appealing for people to write in with a suggested nominee and reason why they think that person deserves the accolade.

"Ideally we're looking for someone who actually lives in Evesham but will also consider people who have done something to help the town in some way," he said.

"It could be someone who helps old people or does a lot for the public in the town. This is the second year that the award is being offered and the winner will receive an award to keep as well as invitations to all the civic events throughout the mayoral year."

Last year's cut glass award went to Howard James of Evesham Vale Lions Club for his services to the Evesham community.

Nominations should be addressed to Frank Green at the Evesham Community Contact Centre on Abbey Road. Letters should give the name of the nominee and the reason why the person should receive the award.

The closing date for nominations is April 21.
