I AM grateful to Paul Gittins (Letters, March 31) for reminding readers for what Independent Health Concern stands. What he omitted to include was our freedom of speech and the right to act with independence or without party political pressure.
In speaking of defections he should be reminded that four of the original council members for Health Concern joined as disillusioned members of his Labour Party where they were denied the right to oppose the party line - commendably they put the electorate first and their party second.
Defections are commonplace in politics - every party in Wyre Forest has a history of defectors in or out so it is sad that he singles out one party for mention.
More widely, the SDP was founded by the "gang of four" ex-Labour stalwart heavyweights and Winston Churchill crossed the floor more times than a confused chicken!
So come on Paul, if you want to be taken seriously, at least present a balanced argument.
