The dust nuisance, which raised a great outcry last year, is again apparent. A petition on the subject, presented by Dr Stanley Haynes, on behalf of long-suffering residents of the Worcester Road, has been referred to the street's committee. Now that the town is in possession of the Bromsberrow water, there should be no hesitation in sprinkling the roads at frequent intervals. The extension of the tar treatment now in progress should also help to lessen the evil. Malvern News, April 7, 1906.

A painful sensation was caused in the Ledbury district on Friday, when news of the death of Mr Oakey arrived. It appears the deceased had been in the habit of cleaning out weeds from his pool at Castle Frome, and he was quite possibly at his work when he met an untimely end. William Taylor, waggoner, told the coroner's court: "I got a hop pole to him and pulled him to the bank. He was quite dead." Ledbury Free Press, April 10, 1906.

Easter was a quiet holiday in the Malvern area, although most of the hotels were full with conference delegates and visitors. British Railways and Midland Red bus spokesmen reported light traffic on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. A bus official said that mainly visitors came only for the hills. One of the attractions was Davenham Gardens, opened by Mr and Mrs Dyson Perrins on behalf of the Gardeners' Benevolent Fund. Malvern Gazette, April 6, 1956.

Presiding at the annual meeting of Ledbury Parish Church, the rector spoke in justification of the decision to fell four lime trees in the churchyard. He said the crashing down of two giant limbs from one of the trees during a still night demanded an explanation by qualified people. The committee obtained the most experienced advice possible, and acted upon it. Ledbury Reporter, April 13, 1956.

Residents of Dukes Way, Poolbrook, have won a major victory in their fight for better parking and safety conditions on the street. Hereford-Worcester County Council has widened large sections of the roadway. But Dukes Way Residents' Committee, which has created a strong community feeling among the 28 households since it was formed in August last year, is to press ahead with its main aim of getting a communal parking area. Malvern Gazette, April 9, 1981.

Proof the people of Ledbury value highly their parish church comes through the magnificent response to the appeal to fund repairs to the south-facing window. Within a fortnight of the appeal letter going out, the total reached £3,000 and is now close to £4,000. Ledbury Reporter, April 9, 1981.
