RADAR'S rather inconsistent season continued on Sunday when a determined performance earned three Worcester League division one points against high-riding Perrywood Reserves.

PERRYWOOD RESERVES 1, MALVERN RADAR 3

With a number of players unavailable and the total age of the back five totalling more than 200, it looked a bit grim for the 11 available.

The home side started well, knocking the ball around and they took the lead on 14 minutes when Simon Houghton scored from eight yards with the aid of a slight deflection.

Radar rallied well with Joe Ball causing the home defence problems with a determined display. When one of his efforts was deflected for a corner, Clive Churchill's kick was put right onto Gary Harman's head, who powered home from 10 yards to equalise.

Dean Spiers and Luke Yeomans showed some great touches in midfield for Wood although the swirling wind and drying conditions may have called for a more direct route.

The visitors took the lead four minutes into the second period when the hard-working Jason Lloyd did well to volley the ball into the corner of the net following good work from Nial Henderson.

Perrywood made three changes and almost equalised when Yeomans was left one-on-one with keeper Chris Ball. Making a rare appearance for Radar, the keeper came out on top with a brave double save.

The home side kept passing the ball around well but were let down when they got near the Radar area by some wayward shooting.

Radar secured the points with ten minutes left when Clive Churchill took a quick free-kick from all of 20 yards, his effort finding the bottom corner with Perrywood still sorting out their defensive wall.

This Sunday, Radar are at home to Martley. Players meet 9.45am at Victoria Park.
