TOLLADINE SPORTS 3, POWICK 0

Tolladine won the toss and elected to play with a strong wind at their back. Powick found themselves under pressure from the start and an early blow saw Jamie Abba forced off with an injury, though substitute Pete Brannelly was an effective replacement and enjoyed a competitive game in the midfield.

On several occasions Tolladine put themselves in good positions but a combination of wayward crosses and resolute defending saw the Powick goal remain unbreached. On the half-hour mark, a well-worked Tolladine move saw Dave Lewis slip in the box and Neil Bamfield turned and shot into the far corner.

On the stroke of half-time, Stu Harvey latched onto a through ball and was one-on-one with the keeper, but shot wide.

With the wind at their backs, Powick began the second-half brightly and should have equalised when a free-kick routine between James Badham and Dean Drinkwater saw Stu Harvey just fail to connect with the goal at his mercy.

Powick were made to pay when slack defensive play allowed Tolladine a free header at the back post.

Powick's misery was completed when Tolladine scored in the final minute.

Man-of-the-match went to captain Lee Henderson.

WITH the second and third-placed teams both losing, Powick secured three points to leave them well-placed at the top of the Worcester Sunday division one table.

The first-half performance from Powick was one to forget and dominated by mistakes. Oli Knight and Phil Skilton coped well with the movement of the home side, though Stu Hart proved to be the saviour on several occasions in the Powick goal.

A tactical change at half-time saw Powick keep a better shape and with it more possession of the ball.

Powick spurned a fantastic opportunity when Tim Lambeth missed from close range with the goal at his mercy. Blushes were spared, however, when Stu Harvey spun and shot into the bottom corner in a rare moment of quality.

The lead was doubled soon after when an excellent cross by Steve Davis was controlled and slotted home by Tim Lambeth

With seven games remaining, Powick have a real opportunity to finish the season as champions.
