INDIAN paceman Zaheer Khan believes his stint as one of Worcestershire's overseas stars is a win-win situation for both club and player.

The left-arm seamer feels all the elements are in place for him to take a hatful of wickets for the County and play a major part in firing them into the top flight --enhancing his claims for an international recall at the same time.

Zaheer, who is due to arrive at New Road on April 12, was signed as a replacement for fellow left-armer Nathan Bracken who pull-ed out of his contract last month due to international commitments.

The Indian ace, who has claimed 121 Test scalps during his career, is now relishing the prospect of showcasing his talents on the New Road track.

He said: "I am very much looking forward to playing for Worcestershire and hopefully it will come good for me and we can get some success as a team.

"I want to play well and take lots of wickets for the team and help them to win games. If I can do this, it will help me to get back into the Indian team as well as benefiting Worcestershire.

"It is a win-win situation which is why I am so happy to be coming to New Road.

"I have not actually played there before, but I practised there with the India squad when we were touring in 2002.

"I know that it is a lovely ground and I am quite familiar with the place. I have heard that the Worcester wicket is always helpful to seamers and the feedback I have had has been pretty positive.

"I am good friends with Vikram Solanki and I know Kabir Ali and Nadeem Malik well too, so that will help me to settle in at New Road.

"I am going to be arriving in Worcester on April 12 so I have plenty of time to get to know the other guys and train with my new team-mates and acclimatise."
